Dear Second Grade Parent,
As you may have heard, the Parkview school is growing in student enrollment. This is great news for our district as more students means more programs for all students in grades Pre-K through 12.
To accommodate the increasing number of students at Parkview, we are going to shift a grade level from Parkview to Roosevelt Elementary School. This shift in grade levels gives us more efficient use of our school buildings and classrooms as we look to the future.
Beginning in the 2013-2014 school year, our third grade students will be attending Roosevelt Elementary School along with 4th, 5th and 6th grade students. All other aspects of their school day will remain the same. The current third grade teachers will all be moving into new/repurposed classrooms at Roosevelt Elementary School and will be welcoming your children into their classrooms in the fall.
We understand that you may be concerned at the thought of your third grader going to Roosevelt Elementary School. We are confident that the transition will be a smooth one. Your second grade children will be brought over to Roosevelt for a tour and to meet with Mr. Spelts, the Roosevelt Elementary Principal. They will be given an opportunity to see where their classrooms will be and how to get around the building in their new school setting. After the first week of school in the fall, the children will be accustomed to their new surroundings and will be off on another exciting school year.
If you have any comments or concerns regarding the transition, please feel free to contact any of your school administrators. We will be happy to discuss any of your concerns and answer any questions you may have.
